Offline Content Database!!!
In one of my projects I was looking for adding more content databases to the web application and what are the other options.

One of the nice options the ability to take the content database offline!!!

Here is the definition from technet

"Offline   Select this option to make the database unavailable to host new sites"

This option is very helpful if you have done proper sizing and you want to control where the new sites sites collection to be created you can just turn the database to offline and then new sites  sites collection will be created in the ready databases.

Basically when a database offline it means that it will not be available for new sites sites collection.

What happen if all your content databases if offline and you try to create new site site collection, simply it will fail with the following message

remember Sites in this case means Site Collections! (it makes sense to developers who use the object model! SPSite = Site Collection)
