• CLI441 - Windows Mobile Development Tips and Tricks

  Randy Ramig delivered an excellent talk yesterday (Thurs 25 Mar 4:30PM) on Windows Mobile Development Tips and Tricks at the MDC USA. His first talk apparently at such a conference! The session focused on tools, tips and tricks you can use to increase the efficiency of your development, deployment, and testing process of Pocket PC and Smartphone applications. He demoed some key tools for enhancing your productivity, ranging from improvements to the device emulator, various configuration and automation tools, debugging techniques, as well as general tips, tricks and best practices for more efficient development. His use of the Pocket PC and Smartphone emulators was 1st class, demonstrating deep knowledge of the systems and how to maximise their use for debugging. Randy works on browser.dll for the Pocket Internet Explorer team. • SRV337 - Mobile Access to SharePoint Products & Technologies

  First session of the day at the MDC, Wednesday March 24 10:30am right after the Bill Gates keynote, focuses on how to access Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server 2003 from mobile devices such as the Pocket PC and Smartphone. The speaker Robert Barker will explore ways of developing SharePoint Mobile Solutions using Web Part Pages and Web Parts, ASP.NET Mobile Controls and the .NET Compact Framework. Out of the box SharePoint sites are just too busy and complex for use on mobile devices. It's important to customise mobile targeted sites carefully to concentrate on the data and remove the clutter. • Microsoft® SharePoint™ Products and Technologies Developer Tour, EMEA 2004

  Spent a great two days at the above conference 8-9 March in London (see http://www.sharepoint-events.com). Lot's of good information on the differences between SharePoint Portal Server and WSS, how to write and use web parts, make the best use of lists and document libraries. I'm really hoping to get into WSS more and develop mobile centric applications around these sites.
